Payment  Methods

Here at robertwhite.co.uk we accept orders online, by telephone or on premises in person. Payment online can be made by debit or credit card, PayPal and direct bank transfer. Payment over the telephone can only be made by debit or credit card. Payment for orders on premises is by either a card machine (PDQ / Chip & Pin) or cash. You can find more detailed information in the sections below if required.

PayPal

Since we started accepting PayPal in 2014 it has fast become the most popular payment method for online orders. When going through the checkout process you will be presented with the option to pay by PayPal. Pick this option if you want to pay using your existing PayPal account. Once you click to make your purchase you will be redirected to the PayPal website to log in and check your details; you will then be directed back to robertwhite.co.uk to review and confirm your order.

All transactions are checked through PayPal's Advanced Fraud Management Filters.

Please note that there may be extra security checks & subsequent delivery delays for unconfirmed addresses. If you would like to find out how to confirm your address with PayPal please refer to the PayPal website here.

Debit & Credit Cards

Payment online:

We accept Visa, Mastercard and Maestro Credit & Debit cards online. We do not currently accept American Express. When choosing to pay with a card on robertwhite.co.uk, secure hosted fields technology provided by Braintree Payments (a PayPal Company) will allow you to conveniently enter your card details directly into the website without being redirected away to a third party page or usng a popup window. The information you enter is sent directly to the payment gateway and no card data is read or stored by our systems. Our website is secured by an Extended Validation (EV) 256 bit SSL Security Certificate, which offers the highest level of data encryption possible at the time of writing. All this combined means you can rest assured that your card details are safely and correctly handled.

All transactions are fraud screened using industry leading technology. 

You may be asked for your 3DSecure Password as part of the payment process. This password belongs to either the Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode schemes and is a way for online transactions to be made safer. If you are not aware of this process or do not know how to sign up please follow the links for more information. All UK card providers now utilise this system, and if a UK order does not have full 3Dsecure clearance then we will likely decline it. International card providers are rolling out this system at a reasonable rate; in the next few years this system will become mandatory for all card providers world-wide.

Payment over the telephone:

If paying by card over the telephone you will need to provide your details to a member of staff for them to process the payment for you. Transactions made over the telephone are also secured by Braintree Payments hosted fields technology.

Storing Card Details

A much requested feature of our new website is the ability for customers with an account to store their card details to speed up future purchases. This technology is called Vault and is provided by Braintree Payments. Card details stored by Vault are not held on our servers and we have no access to them; Vault secures your data via encryption using industry leading technology to allow us to provide this service in the most secure way possible.

Bank Transfer

We accept direct bank transfer for orders placed online or over the phone. Shipments will not be made until cleared funds have been confirmed in our account; it is therefore advisable to pay by card or PayPal if you want fast despatch.

Please note that orders placed by bank transfer should be paid within 48 hours. If we do not receive notification of payment within this period the order may be cancelled.

Please also note that payments may take longer to clear from international destinations. As above; if you require same day despatch or expedited delivery then please pay by card.

Please do not make payments without first placing an order either online or over the telephone; you will then be provided with an order number which you should use as the reference for your payment.

We currently only accept payment in Pounds Sterling (GBP). For international customers, please note that you may be required to pay a fee to transfer the payment in GBP - if the fee is not paid by you then it will be automatically deducted by the bank from the total amount we receive and we will then need to contact you to ask for the missing funds to be transferred. This could end up costing you more; you will need to pay the fee on the second payment, plus the money that was deducted from the first. It is also important to note that many international banks only allow payments in GBP when made in-branch, not using online banking. Please refer to your bank or agent for more information on this process.

Fraud Screening & Security

In addition to any payment type specific measures mentioned above, we may also carry out additional security checks if we deem appropriate.

We take security very seriously. We ask that our customers respect that fraud is a very present and growing issue, and that if we request additional information for any reason you do not take offence. All procedures in place are designed to protect both our customers and our business.

In order to help transactions go smoothly we ask that you provide your payment information accurately. The 'Billing Address' should be the address that the card is registered to, and should be presented as it is held by your card provider. Failure to do so may result in an order being rejected. In these circumstances the order will either be automatically declined at checkout or processed and additional information requested to verify the payees identity.

We reserve the right to decline any online order on a fruad or security basis, irrespective of if payment has already been cleared by the bank. It is important to note that 'successful' payment does not indicate that the order is not fraudulent as card providers pass all liability onto the retailer and will often pass orders of negligible credibility; if they did not then online fraud would not be the issue it is today. If an order that is paid is subsequently declined by us then it will be refunded immediately.

If you wish to ship to an address other than the card registered 'billing' address, then you must place the order online. This is so that the automatic security checks can be run such as 3D Secure. We regret that we do not ship to alternative addresses for telephone orders for security reasons.
