LEE Filters Seven5 System Straw 3 Grad Soft Filter
The LEE Filters 100mm System Straw 3 Grad Soft Filter enables the photographer to selectively position the effect across the frame. A greater yellow warm-up for landscapes. Accentuates foregrounds when inverted..
The filters for the Seven5 system are manufactured to the same standards as those for the renowned 100mm system. Handmade in a way that meets the company’s exacting quality control in colour and optical flatness, products in the LEE Filters range have become the benchmark by which other systems are judged, and are the indispensable tools of many photographic professionals worldwide.
The Seven5 filters are not just cut down versions of the LEE 100mm System. In keeping with the smaller size the gradation zones have been adjusted to suit the smaller system. These changes have been made through extensive testing in conjunction with top landscape photographers.
Purely an effect colour, Straw offers a yellower warm up than the Coral, 81 or 85 series filters.
Straw filters are ideal for subjects that already have a reddish colour such as fallen leaves or straw which can look too red when filtered with other warm ups
Precise creative control
There is a place in landscape photography for both hard and soft grads. Which one you decide to use will depend mainly on the subject matter of your image.
As a general rule, a hard grad would be used for images containing a horizon, or any hard transition between the sky and the foreground - even with jagged or mountainous horizons, the exposure can be controlled far easier with a hard grad.
Soft grads perform best in woodland, mist, or interiors. Anywhere where there is no definite transition between sky and foreground, a soft grad will gently balance exposure across the image.
Straw Grads can be stacked together, or with other filters, so you can respond to almost any lighting situation.
