Half Inch Rails RnG S2 1/2" Rig System

1/2 Rods for superlight construction, to use with Okii or HIR focus systems

This Rig is small light and rigid

Adjustable rear spar makes for comforatble shooting and the Rig can be used a a stable platform for the camera on a table or on the ground

Engineering design

    * Some camera support systems grew to support 35mm adapters, lashed together in a hurry to support the sale of another product
    * HIR is desinged from 'first principals' to support DSLR and larger cameras
    * Countless Alpha and Beta rigs have been in the field since late 2008, S1 had a small production run that was (and still is) used in the field all over the world
    * HIR _S2 is the a product of much feedback from these support systems and the marriage of the knowledge of an expericned shooter, Sam Morgan Moore, with the   design input of a professional mechanical engineering designer, Roger Scammell

The tube clamp

    * Most support rigs rely on tube clamps that bend the clamp to provide the grip force on the tube, often the bending force is provided by a small lever, with little leverage
    * If the lever has course thread the force is reduced even more
    * Is this a way to create a rigid camera support system ? - we think not
    * HIR Tube clamps use eccentrically drilled, fine threaded brass clamping elements to grip tubes

Moving parts - not bending metal

    * These custom machine clamping elements are a small but very fine part of the rig construction
    * Not only do they clamp well but they also clamp across a variance of tube sizes meaning that tube diameter is far less of an issue than with many 'bendy clamp' rigging systems
    * We also use fine german ratched levers, so you never find yourself in a situation where you have no where to go with your tightening lever

Many Mount Points

    * You may be considering a rig that uses a round tube as the handle bar element
    * This may appear to be a cheap solution until you condiser the clost of all of the little clamps and levers that you will need to add stuff to your rig
    * HIR parts are designed in conjunction with our inventory of third party parts to be multifunctional
    * We use holes to both reduce the mass of our components and create configurability
    * The hole system is based around a cubic system meaning our parts line up and fit together in millions of configurations
    * That hole system is spaced in a manner to minimise the bumping of components while retaining strength

No Threads

    * HIR relies heavily on the 'Barrel nut' , the barrel nut is a known solution for providing threads in softer materials - like aluminium
    * This is a threaded item that slips into our components
    * What does this mean?
    * One hole can offer many thread sizes
    * You will never strip a thread on a core component - only on a replaceable barrel
    * You do not have to carry or pay for steel inserted threads that you are not using
    * You will not be relying on threaded aluminium which is known to wear, and eventually strip

Hand Lugguage

    * The HIR Handlebar was designed in conjunction with Billingham and Think Tank Bags
    * Being only 28cm across it is desinged to fit into hand lugguage bags
    * A RnG rig has the longest component at 30cm
    * While many rigs require a bag to themselves HIR often slips into your current bag

Cages

    * Some people make solid cage camera rigs
    * We think these are a short term solution
    * Using HIR handlebars to create a camera cage means that the height of the cage is infinitely adjustable
    * This means it will collapse down to the size of a Panny GH2 or grow to fit a Panny AF100
    * And of course fit all cameras in between - perfectly

Made not Sourced

    * HIR main man Sam Morgan Moore has a reasonble knowledge of engineering but knows when to call on the professionals to turn concept into functional reality
    * SMMs sketch designed are finished and 'CADed' by Roger Scammel an industrial desinger who has been working in the offshore industries for four decades, both designing oil rigs and also racing yachts - strength and speed
    * Half Inch Rails components are then machined in a medium sized shop in Devon using both traditional skills and up to date CNC machining
    * Half Inch Rails parts are made from anodized T6 Aluminium, Stainless Steel and Brass
