Cooke have extended their famed lens range with an updated remake of the classic Cooke Series XV Triple Convertible for 10x8 large format photography.
An Ansel Adams' favorite is reborn: The new Cooke Series XVa Triple Convertible Lens for 10x8 large format photography lens consists of a front element, a back element and an innovative Dynamic Scale Ring that is engraved with three f stop scales for the three possible focal length combinations. It attaches by the photographer to any recent vintage Copal #3 shutter.
The Series XVa has the same classic lines and the same focal length combinations as the original Cooke Series XV lens that Adams used to capture fourteen of his most famous images, including "Moonrise." Cooke's redesign of the popular classic maintains the favourite characteristics of the original lens while incorporating new features requested by contemporary photographers:
Focal lengths: 311mm (front + rear), 646mm (front cell only), 476mm (rear cell only)
The Series XVa is colour balanced for today's film stocks, and features the renowned Cooke multicoating with No flaring and No ghosting.
The Dynamic Scale Ring features three easily readable f stop scales on one dialable ring for the three lens combinations (front + rear, front only, rear only). The lens and this innovative ring easily attach to any recent vintage Copal #3 shutter.
You can choose to buy the lens elements + ring alone* and use a Copal #3 shutter you may already own, or you can purchase the lens with a Copal #3 shutter pre fitted.
* The lens without shutter option is supplied with a support barrel but not a barrel mount with iris diaphragm.
As an additional feature, combine your first XVa lens with a second lens set for two additional focal length combinations: 368mm (front + front) and 273mm (rear + rear)#.
