Details
Featuring Fujifilm's unique colour filter array with its highly random pixel arrangement, the X-Trans CMOS sensor eliminates the need for an optical low-pass filter, which is used in conventional systems to inhibit moiré at the expense of resolution. The innovative array lets the X-Trans CMOS sensor capture unfiltered light from the lens and produce unprecedented resolution. The uniquely random arrangement of the colour filter array is also highly effective in enhancing noise separation in high-sensitivity photography. Another advantage of the large APS-C sensor is the ability to create a beautiful “bokeh”effect – the aesthetic out-of-focus effect created when shooting with a shallow depth of field.
With its large APS-C sensor and the elimination of the optical low-pass filter, Fujifilm's X-Trans CMOS sensor is an excellent low-light performormer, delivering a standard ISO range up to ISO6400. No matter when or where the shutter opportunity arises, you can depend on the X-E1's high-sensitivity image capture to defeat blur caused by camera shake or subject motion, and to capture the moment beautifully.
In high contrast scenes, for example when shooting outside on a very bright sunny day with a strong contrast between the bright sunshine and dark shadows, this technology overcomes the usual difficulties and is able to capture detail in both highlights and shadowy areas.
